This question comes up quite a bit, and so CJYSA, in an effort to assist our teams, we are providing instructions. Of course, these are subject to change by the NJYS office. For most up to date instructions, refer to the NJYS Handbook, found on their website: www.njyouthsoccer.com
These instructions are for the team looking to add a secondary carded player to their roster.
· Secondary players must complete the appropriate paperwork on the Secondary Player/Team Status Form. This form must be requested from the NJYS administrative office by the secondary team, along with the secondary player pass, at a cost of $5.00 each packet (subject to change). NJYS phone number: 609-490-0725
· The form must be signed by the player, the player’s parents, and the player’s primary team coach. The form is then delivered to the league official of the secondary league for signature by the league.
· The secondary pass must be completed to include player name, birth date, and pass number from primary team, and player picture affixed on the back, along with the player’s signature.
· The secondary team then sends the signed form to the NJYS administrative office along with the completed secondary pass, and copy of the primary team pass (both sides).
· The NJYS administrative office will stamp the NJYS president signature on the pass and will return the form and pass to the secondary team.
· The secondary team will then bring the secondary form, pass and copy of the primary pass, to their own team district commissioner (secondary district commissioner) to sign and validate the form, as well as the secondary player pass.
Remember the following:
· A player may roster with more than one team during the same seasonal year (September through August).
· At initial registration, the player MUST declare the team on which he or she will have primary status. The player will be considered a secondary player on any and all other teams with which the player rosters, provided that the proper paperwork is completed.
· A player rostered to more than one team must participate in the game played by their primary team in the event of a schedule conflict.
· A player is a primary player on only one team, but with the primary team’s coach concurrence, the player may be a secondary player with several different teams.
· The secondary player pass is issued to the player for use ONLY in the league in which he or she is designated as a secondary player.
· Teams with secondary players on their roster are NOT eligible for National Championship play or NJYS State Cup play.
· A player may become secondary only if he or she is rostered to a team as a primary player. If the player transfers or is released from their primary team, their secondary player pass becomes void. If the primary team is disbanded, the secondary player pass is void and must be returned to NJYS office.
· A player can only be added to an existing roster as a secondary player. This means, that the team must already exist before the secondary players can be added.
· The team looking to add a secondary player MUST carry at least 11 primary players on the roster.
· U10 and younger players are not authorized to have secondary player passes.
· NJYS does not permit secondary players on out of state team rosters.
· CJYSA permits no more than 3 secondary carded players on a team’s roster.
